A magic number, in sports vernacular, is the count of results after which a place is mathematically settled. This site works out that kind of question for every club in the competitions it covers: what is still possible, how likely each outcome is, and which of the remaining games decide it. The numbers come from simulating the rest of the season many thousands of times over the real remaining fixtures. How it works is the long version.

What it does not claim: a forecast here is an estimate of how a season could go, not a prediction of what will happen, and it can be wrong. We publish the record either way - every forecast is kept as it was published, and the track record page shows how the published ones have actually performed.
